The Salaam Centre Medical Community invites you to a talk by Salman Waqar, Academic clinical fellow at University of Oxford entitled COVID-19, Health Inequalities & the Lived Experience of British Muslims.
Salman is a Portfolio General Practitioner in Berkshire and a Research Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. He is an Associate Medical Director for East Berkshire OOH and a GMC Associate and BME Doctors Forum member.
He is a founding member and President of the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA), an award-winning voluntary non-profit association of Muslim health professionals that have been proactive in community health promotion and addressing health inequalities for many years. Their cancer screening work was awarded an PHE Commendation by the Royal Society of Public Health.
He is the Chair of the BAME Healthcare Professionals Consortium and sits on various national fora in the GMC and NHSE representing ethnic minority doctors and communities.
He is an LMC representative for East Berkshire and the Honorary Secretary of the Thames Valley RCGP Faculty.
