OCTOBER 2022 UPDATE Salaam Alaykum! We start by greeting you on this most auspicious of occasions, the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family! In this October Update, we will: Share some exciting news about the Salaam Centre Tell you about our amazing talks taking place at our centre Update you about our work serving the community. Building Phase 2 of Our Iconic New Home Salaam Centre Takes Shape Alhamdulillah, and by the Grace of Allah SWT, we are pleased to announce the next phase of the Salaam Centre development. The foundations are laid and the enormous basement has been built.  Now the construction will recommence, allowing the building to take shape and begin to make a visual impact by January 2024, insha'Allah! Start date: 3/10/22 Completion date: 26/1/24 Main Contractor: TNV Construction Ltd Project Managers and QS: JSW Consultants Contract Sum: £6m This landmark building will be a beacon for our community. This is a unique project and will be a lasting legacy for you. The Salaam Centre will: Nourish your soul Through established spiritual services and inspirational design Feed your mind In a modern lecture theatre, library and seminar rooms  Nurture communities In a welcoming youth centre, dedicated children's block and large sports hall. Beautiful, eco-friendly, state-of-the-art: it will, inshallah, be a welcoming institution for all.  Planning permission has been granted, and development, by Allah's grace, is well underway.  We've come this far, now help us finish this blessed project Support YOUR Salaam Centre DONATE TODAY We now need to urgently raise £2m to complete phase 2. We have raised approximately £3.3 million already, we have pledges of £0.7m for the period ending December 2023.  We now need your help and hope that you will be able to help contribute to reaching our £6m target.  Please contribute whatever you can, no amount is too small - £25,000, £10,000, even £5,000 or £1,000. Developing work streams Serving our community Since bringing our community together in Ramadan after the Covid-19 pandemic had pulled us apart, we have had a great deal of enthusiasm to rebuild our community! Now we're developing workstreams to serve all members of our community. This amazing work includes: Monthly children's programmes, complementing our weekly madrasah Events organised and run by an active Youth committee Sessions for families parents and children, along with regular sports events You've probably also already heard about Soul Kitchen - a foodbank that we have set up at Mahfil Ali - serving over 140 boxes of food EVERY WEEK.
