Latest highlights from The Salaam Centre: a dynamic new home for our community in London.
Salaam Alaykum! Peace!
Since our last newsletter, we are pleased to update you to tremendous progress taking place at the Salaam Centre. The structure of the first and second floors are now taking shape and we anticipate work commencing on the roof.
Meanwhile, the massive basement floors are now seeing waterproofing and under-floor heating pipework installed.
Crucially, along with the architecture, we are now reviewing the unique Islamic styling we hope to apply across the building with the installation of a sample section of façade glazing and cladding, which you can see pictured here.
Our ambitions were showcased at the recent Muslim News Awards where we were fortunate to witness some truly inspirational national community activities.
We were pleased to have welcomed so many visitors to the site in the past few months. So many of you have not only given us your support, but also given us valuable feedback for us to consider as we will, inshaAllah, move into the Salaam Centre in a few years time.
In this holy month of Muharram, as we solemnly mark the sacrifice and legacy of Imam Husayn (AS), we humbly request that you continue your support for the Salaam Centre, embodying the legacy of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) as we provide a sustainable and dynamic community institution based on their values.

On 7 October 2023, we will be hosting our second major Gala Dinner to fundraise for The Salaam Centre, a new dynamic hub open to the people of Harrow and beyond.
By hosting the dinner at Wembley Stadium, we aim to draw on our values and the potential the new Salaam Centre will bring: health and well-being at the heart of our community.
Guests will be treated to exclusive access to the historic home of football: Wembley Stadium
The roof garden will be one of the unique highlights of the Salaam Centre. Visitors will be inspired by the stunning design and floral beauty. Beautiful design reflecting our heritage is one of the guiding features of the Salaam Centre, alongside the need to be eco-friendly and respectful of nature.

By the grace of Allah (SWT) we have collected £4.7m and have had £0.4m pledges until April 2024. For this round of development, we need £1.3m to collect.

As part of our events for professionals, our next medical community event will feature Dr Miqdaad Asaria, Assistant Professor at the London School of Economics. Miqdaad is a health economist with extensive experience in both academic and policy making settings. His research interests include health inequalities and health financing with a particular focus on the health systems in India and the UK.
